Everlasting Eggs

You might remember that this round of ducks we have is our second batch, hatched from leftover eggs from the batch that got killed.

We still have some duck eggs from the original flock. Duck incubation started May 1st, which means these eggs are at least from the end of April... 3.5 months old roughly.

Some people would be grossed out and have tossed these by now, but I have experienced older eggs. Eggs that have been in the fridge so long they've dried out in the shell (that takes seven+ months to happen).

So these eggs made me just a titch nervous, enough to crack them in a separate bowl just in case. And look:

Completely normal.

I needed three for my zucchini muffin recipe and the other two looked even better. No runny whites here!
