Another great day of MN history.  We're on the last chapter of history for the year... "Moving into Modern Times".  We only got through four slides of the powerpoint, the Space Race and an intro into the Vietnam War.  They sure ask a lot of questions!

While we were packing up for the end of the day, a couple of the boys were asking me more about Nolan's weapons they discovered in the haymow.  They thought they were the coolest things ever!  And they were impressed that he designed and built them himself.  They also said that if they had those weapons, they'd always be running around outside playing with them.  Then they found out he plays Clash of Clans and now they all want to be on his clan.  So that's my assignment for Monday, to figure out what clan he belongs to.

Only three balloons on our ceiling today.  I think I'm going to have to pop them and re-put them on the ceiling.  Our fire truck ride is either going to be Monday or Tuesday.  Tuesday we were supposed to make marshmallow launchers, but I'm not sure if we'll have time for that and the fire truck ride.  It's hard to believe we only have one more week of school left!

We finally got the results for the Fire Posters our students made waaaay back in October.  The fire chief came out and passed out the prizes for each grade.  They give cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, plus send some to the state contest where they can win even more money.  No wonder everyone was so excited to get the results.  It was kind of a last minute thing; the chief called this morning to talk about when to do the ride for our class and then he asked if he could do the poster presentation today.  Mr. E is at his daughter's graduation from dental school today, so it was kind of a "let's do this and see what happens" kind of thing.  The other teachers were fine with it (the 3rd and 4th graders especially... two boys were so excited they actually stood up and gave each other a bear hug when I gave them the news).
