Our afternoon recess was possibly my favorite part of the day. We shared the playground with the preschool 4s and it was so fun to see my kids playing with the youngers. Two 5th grade boys pushed the little girls on the swings, lifting them up to sit. There's a big circle tire swing that can swing in a circle, so soon the preschoolers clamored for a push. The boys acquiesced, but they didn't just do normal pushes... No, they pretended the swing was a space ship. When it was still, it was docked. In motion, it had to avoid asteroids and aliens (the boys pushing), complete with sound effects and dramatic falling to the sand when they were vanquished. A 5th grade girl joined them on the swing too. Man, the giggles of pure joy! And the best part is, we get these recesses three times a week. ☺️
