It's funny, all day it was dreary and misty and humid and not all together pleasant. And now that school's over, the sun has come out. Oh well, I'm not complaining. I still made the kids go outside for recess. The boys pitched such a fit; they wanted to go in the gym. They tried to convince me it was too wet, even though it wasn't raining and we'd be playing on the blacktop. Then they tried pulling the "it's too cold!" card. Put on a sweatshirt, it's not that bad out!
The real reason they didn't want to go outside was that the baseball field was a little too wet to play over there and the basketball hoop on the blacktop was still busted from one of the 5th graders hanging on it too long. Some still played mini-basketball even with the lopsided hoop. Most played 4-square. A few of the "handyman" boys in my class stayed after school to fix the hoop and do other fix-it jobs for Mr. E. So now there really are no excuses to go outside!
