Food Fear Factor

My favorite nurse-led activity of the year! Nurse Sue brought 19 kinds of fruits/vegetables for us to try, things probably not commonly eaten at home. This year she had some candies from Mexico including cactus fruit gel things, coconut blobs, and a caramelish thing with bits of fruit in it. Pretty good!

I shared my dried fruit from Austria: mango, pineapple, and hibiscus flower. Joe got to try a rehydrated hibiscus flower too. He actually ate it!

Other fruits: prunes, figs, dragonfruit (tastes like not-so strong kiwi), starfruit, pomegranate, blood orange, and a few other melon-ish fruits I can't remember the names of.

Vegetables: pickled artichoke hearts, eggplant, turnips, cauliflower, cucasaurus (aka- Kiwano Melon). You should look it up! It tastes like cucumber (but not as good) and the outside peel is orange and spiky, like a dinosaur.
